Here’s some information about me that you may find interesting.

I was born and raised in the New Haven, Connecticut area, the third of four children. I’ve been writing since childhood. My father was an electrical engineer but loved language, so I grew up among books and had my grammar corrected on a regular basis. I attended New York University and graduated with a BFA in Film, of all things, and a minor in art. The art minor got me my first job as a technical illustrator for a manufacturer of chemical instruments. This was back before personal computers of course, and I learned my craft with pen and drafting table. I worked my way up to Senior Illustrator in less than eight years but became bored with technical illustration. I wanted to write. I kept asking the boss to let me write, and one day he needed something written and nobody to write it. I got my chance and became a full-time technical writer soon after that.

Over the years, I’ve worked for companies in a wide variety of industries, as you can see on the Clients and Samples page. Along the way I expanded my skills and became adept at learning and mastering software tools. I eventually branched out to marketing, educational and of course, web content writing. Over the years, I’ve been able to apply my interest in visual communication to the work of providing useful information to customers. I’ve done user interface design and testing, video production for online help and highly graphical online tutorials. I enjoy solving information problems and I think and work quickly. Oh, and I’ve never missed a deadline.

In my spare time, I draw and paint, walk and hike, see art and enjoy nature. And of course, I’m always on the lookout for new and interesting ways to present useful information to people.
